Great Taste Star

We are absolutely delighted to share that our Ròg Rum has been awarded one star in the Great Taste Awards!

Ròg is a product that means a lot to us. It was created here in Uig, on the Isle of Lewis, inspired by the landscape surrounding Loch Ròg and the flavours and character of the Outer Hebrides.

Developing it took lots of experimenting (the fun bit) - we wanted to produce something rich and warming, but still balanced and easy to drink. The finished rum brings together notes of toffee and molasses with bright citrus, gentle spice and a subtle herbal freshness.

Receiving a Great Taste star is a wonderful recognition of all the hard work, time and effort that has gone into Ròg. Great Taste judging is carried out through blind tasting, so the judges assess the product entirely on what is in the glass. Knowing that Ròg stood out on that basis makes the award feel particularly special.

This is an important milestone for us as a husband and wife team, running a small business ourselves pouring our heart and sole into every bottle. It will encourage us as we continue to grow Isle of Lewis Distillers and develop spirits that are genuinely connected to the place where they are made.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us, stocked our bottles, shared our products and followed our journey so far. We are very proud to be bringing this Great Taste star home to Uig.
